Montreal Liposuction
Welcome to our liposuction website! This site is dedicated to helping you better understand what Plastic Surgery can offer you to rejuvenate selected areas of your body with liposuction, also called suction-assisted lipectomy or liposculpturing.
The Myth about Liposuction
Without a doubt, you have all read many articles on the internet expounding the superiority of various liposuction methods over that of convention liposuction techniques. Using clever marketing strategies, many authors claim “superior” results and remarkably fast healing using liposuction that includes ultrasound and laser assisted liposuction (Smartlipo). They’ll make you believe that, if you are not getting your liposuction done this way, you’re certainly not getting the “best”.
The Truths about Liposuction
The truth about liposuction is that your results have far more to do with the skill and judgment of your surgeon than the technique of liposuction used. Consider this....
There are two large blocks of marble. I am given a state-of-the-art, laser guided, ultrasonic, high powered, diamond studded rock cutter. In the other corner, Michael Angelo has a hammer and chisel. Who do you think will carve a more perfect figure?
After many years of performing liposuction on my patients, this is what I believe to be true.
- Liposuction is a safe, reliable procedure
- Excellent results are dependent upon careful patient selection and the sound judgment of your surgeon
- The best candidates for liposuction are individuals of relatively normal weight who have excess fat in particular body areas. Having firm, elastic skin will result in a better final contour after liposuction
- Risks and complications are few if a conservative treatment plan is followed
- Recovery from conservative liposuction is usually uneventful
- Liposuction is performed alone or in combination with various body contouring procedures
- Liposuction will not help you lose weight
What is Liposuction?
With this minimally invasive procedure, unwanted fat is removed through small inconspicuous incisions usually hidden within skin folds. The fat is suctioned through fine metal rods called cannulae. Common areas managed with liposuction for body contouring include the arms, breasts, flanks, saddle bag areas (trochanters), the thighs and the inner knees. Selected areas in the back and buttock region can also be suctioned. Liposuction is a technique used alone or in combination with procedures like breast reduction, breast lift, abdominoplasty or thigh lifting, in order to improve form and contour.
